[ad_1]

This year Beirut yachting action is in the heart of the city at the newly opened Zaitunay Bay, an eclectic development of retail outlets, restaurants and cafes which line the water front all the way from the old St. Georges Hotel to the not yet open Le Yacht Club Beirut.

An updated incarnation of Avenue des Francais, once the palm fringed sea front promenade at the centre of smart Beirut, it offers a chance to fully embrace the yachting lifestyle with privately owned and charter yachts berthed in gleaming rows in front of the Riviera style cafes and restaurants. A haven from the pressures of day to day life, the marina is ideally positioned for Beiruti locals as well as visitors staying in the Downtown area. Stroll along the extensive board walk around the marina’s edge to get a better feel for this vibrant project, or even better arrive for an early cappuccino in one of the waterside cafes as a precursor to a day out on the water.

Chartering from the marina allows visitors the benefits of easy taxi drop-off, or convenient covered parking, only a few steps away from a selection of yachts ranging in size from 30 to 100ft. Plan a break from city living or a demanding sightseeing schedule and make the most of being right next to the sea with a surprise afternoon out for a loved one, a day with the family, or an onboard party – there is a yacht to suit every occasion. The marina is just a short cruise from the rocks at Raouche, the wide expanse of Jounieh Bay, and a number of thriving beach clubs which offer a pick-up service for guests on anchored yachts who want to come ashore for a taste of the chillout beachfront ambience. Back onboard, there is no better place from where to appreciate the full panorama of the Beirut coastline against its dramatic mountain backdrop.

Returning to the marina as the sun sets over the Mediterranean, there are plenty of reasons not to rush home. Restaurants and cafes are serving everything from traditional Lebanese fare to unpretentious French cuisine, and a glass of nicely chilled Chateau Musar as you enjoy the evening finale is a must.

The new Zaitunay is going to be a great success – it’s accessible, it’s stylish, and it manages to capture the fun loving international flavour of pre war Beirut whilst remaining strictly contemporary – it’s really not to be missed!

Mlkyachts MEAMINA charter a yacht MEAMINA yacht charter MEAMINA mlkyacht broker MEAMINA yacht holidays MEAMINA super yacht12 - Caribbean Sailing Charter: A Day of "Eco-Loving"

[ad_1]

Before I met my husband, my idea of the perfect relaxing respite was some posh, air-conditioned suite at a pricey resort located on a beach within U.S. territories. But, like I said, that was before I was

introduced to the natural beauty and adventure of the Caribbean islands. There may be no better place to get in touch with nature than on a sailing charter to the Caribbean. It is a great way to get away from your everyday life -giving you a chance to recuperate and rejuvenate – while at the same time experiencing nature up close in an environmentally friendly way. Every island in the Caribbean is unique, making the options for outdoor adventures nearly endless. Each day is a new journey just waiting to be discovered!

Imagine waking up on your sailing charter at sunrise in a quiet anchorage of turquoise blue water, facing a secluded white sandy beach fringed with palm trees gently swaying in the warm tropical breeze. After a refreshing swim and a breakfast of mangoes and other tropical fruit freshly picked the day before, you load up your Coleman Exponent Daypack®, don your surf and sand shoes, and paddle your inflatable kayak ashore to explore. As every true adventurer knows, the “real” Caribbean can best be experienced through an activity. Whether it is wandering through local markets; horseback riding in the surf; hiking or biking through an incredible array of landscapes ranging from mountainous rainforests to almost desert-like terrain; participating in a cultural event or dancing to a spontaneous “Jump-up”, there is something for everyone in the Caribbean.

Today’s strenuous activity is an invigorating hike through the dense tropical rainforest to the crater rim of a dormant volcano. The extraordinary array of fauna and flora that we pass makes you feel like you truly are in a Garden of Eden. Once at the summit, we are awestruck by nature’s combination of fury and beauty. On the way back down from the crater rim, we take a break and frolic in a refreshing rainforest waterfall.

Once back onboard our sailing charter, it is time to start the next adventure. We have explored above ground, now it is time to explore under the sea. The Caribbean is known worldwide for its pristine waters. The islands are proud of their natural ecosystems and thus, many areas are protected, including underwater marine parks. Therefore, the Caribbean offers some of the world’s most spectacular snorkeling and diving. We spend a couple hours in the afternoon snorkeling. We are captivated by the amazing coral formations and the colorful myriad of sea life. Although not as strenuous as our morning adventure, it is none the less exhilarating.

By late afternoon, it is time to wind down a bit. We relax in the cockpit of our sailboat as another sailing charter pulls into the anchorage, lowers its sails, and prepares to drop anchor. For those that are experienced sailors, it is always part of the fun and ritual of cruising to watch other cruisers enter and leave an anchorage. Much to my husband’s chagrin, I grab my Bushnell binoculars and check out the latest visitors to this corner of paradise.

After watching the most unbelievable, breathtaking sunset, we decide we are too tired to cook dinner ourselves. We attach a Coleman for Kids Illumistick® to the bow spirit of our yacht, and head back to shore to sample some delicious Caribbean cuisine in town. Afterward, as we push off shore, the faint glow of the illumistick guides us to our vessel. Without it, it may be difficult to find our sailboat in the pitch darkness of the anchorage void of the reflection of urban lights. Once onboard, under the shine of our floating lantern, we lay out the charts on the navigation station. With our handheld GPS, we plot a course for our next destination. After all, what fun is a sailing charter to the Caribbean if you never leave port? After a bit of tidying up, we snuggle on the deck, gazing up at an impossible number of clear constellations. Soon, the gentle rocking of our sailing charter does its magic. After a full day of being in touch with nature, I am completely relaxed and a bit worn out. It is time to retire to our cabin, because tomorrow our sails will be full as we journey to our next Caribbean adventure.

Several years ago, if someone told me I would be “roughing” it in paradise, I would have laughed. Now, I know. There is no finer place to get in touch with nature than on a Caribbean island and no better way to do it than on an environmentally friendly sailing charter.

If you are looking for a once in a lifetime experience discover the Caribbean’s natural beauty for yourself.

Each day will be a new adventure you will never forget!

Mlkyachts RAMBLE ON ROSE charter a yacht RAMBLE ON ROSE yacht charter RAMBLE ON ROSE mlkyacht broker RAMBLE ON ROSE yacht holidays RAMBLE ON ROSE super yacht26 - Selecting A Barbados Cruise

[ad_1]

Cost:

Barbados is a beautiful tiny country located in West Indies. Famous for its beaches, the cruises are a specialty of Barbados which attracts millions of tourist every year. Cruise cost lies between expansive and cheap depending on the factors like season, climatic conditions, and special occasion like Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year, etc. Apart from these times the general off season charges for Barbados cruise are very reasonable. Generally tourists are reluctant to visit Barbados in fall and spring which result in decreasing cruise costs. Apart from it during the troubled weather the Barbados cruise cost goes low. One man flash is another man’s poison; you can get benefit from these reduced rates by planning your Barbados cruise trips during such time periods.

Time:

Choosing the right time of year is one, moreover you need to select the cruise carefully to have maximum enjoyment, in your allocated time & budget. Cruise should cover as many islands as possible, as a result permitting you to see new places, meet new people, which was the sole purpose of your trip. Heading east in Caribbean, the cruise boarding options are from Miami, Tampa, and Ft. Lauderdale Island. Cruises from these places have Barbados among its stops.

Duration:

From a solitary day to a month long, there are several Barbados cruises running with varying durations. As a rule of thumb, Barbados cruises are longer in duration. Obviously in the long duration cruise you will have more opportunities for enjoyment as compares to a shorter one, however choose a cruise based on you vacations or time period you have allocated for it. Furthermore if you are not habitual sea traveler, you should opt for shorter duration cruise initially, to handle the longer sea trips in future.

Fun Activities:

Once you are on a trip, Cruise director is the key person for setting the mood and activities of the trip. This cruise liner’s employee not only decides the stopovers during the cruise, but also plans the fun activities both on cruise and on land. Keep in mind though these activities may cost you some extra money as the main cruise package does not take into account such activities in original charges. If you feel you can enjoy the activities on your own especially the ones on land, you need to collaborate with Cruise director to avoid any mishap like missing the ship because of your late arrival.

Cruise Packages:

Fare of Barbados cruise depends on several aspects, for instance seasons, number of passengers on board, duration and kind of accommodation you choose. Mostly daily meals and some basic activities are provided without any added charges, however for other activities like beverages, golf, city trip etc have to be paid out of pocket or may be charged at actual. Some cruise liners include the cost of necessary air travel and staff tips in their original plan. Be 100 percent clear on kind facilities you are getting in you cruise package, if you have some preference share them up front. So that if extra payments are required, the whole issue could be handled before the trip starts. You are having the trip for fun so make sure there is no bitterness due to such petty issues.

Attire:

You don’t need any special clothes for Barbados cruise. Just grab some normal clothes along with some beach stuff, and you are done. Having fun under the sun is good, but make sure you have packed protective items like sun block, sun hats, day goggles etc. Some cruises do follow some particular even formal dress code especially in the eating areas. Check with the cruise liner representative regarding the dress code. It is only ethical to wear clothing on land which does not hurt the locals in anyway. Ask your friends or do some on line search to study the local cultures to avoid any unintentional violations.

Heed this words and your Barbados cruise will be such a fun that you will always cherish its memories.

Have a nice trip

Mlkyachts ANDREAS L charter a yacht ANDREAS L yacht charter ANDREAS L mlkyacht broker ANDREAS L yacht holidays ANDREAS L super yacht17 - "The Carnival Dream" What Kids Have Been Waiting For

[ad_1]

The Carnival Cruise Line has a new 3,646-passenger ship under construction in Italy, called The Carnival Dream!! It was reported by the cruise line that this “dream ship” will have the most elaborate children’s facilities of any ship at sea!!

Carnival is aware of the growing popularity of the family cruise, so they are accommodating our families by building expansive play areas and a huge Carnival WaterWorks aqua park on the “Dream”. But you will have to wait a while longer to enjoy this facility, which is slated to debut on Sept. 21, 2009.

This “dream ship” will also have new cabin categories designed for families. Some cabins will even be offered with two bathrooms. “The Dream” will also feature an indoor/outdoor cafe and live music venue, called the Piazza. There will also be scenic whirlpools extended over the ship’s beam.

“The Dream” will operate their first season in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. This ship will homeport in Rome (Civitavecchia), and will also sail to several ports in Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Monaco; and Barcelona, Spain.

The Dream will sail to the winter homeport in Port Canaveral, Fla., and launch year-round, seven-day Caribbean cruises beginning Dec. 5, 2009. The Dream ship will alternate between eastern and western Caribbean itineraries. (Caribbean ports will be in Nassau, Bahamas; St. Thomas/St. John, U.S.V.I.; and St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles in for eastern Caribbean cruises and Cozumel, Mexico; Belize; Costa Maya, Mexico; and Nassau for western Caribbean cruises.)

Plan ahead if you want to be among the first to enjoy this new idea in cruise ships. “The Carnival Dream” sounds like a dream come true for the kids. And when the kids are at play, mom and dad can sit back, relax and enjoy their day!!

Mlkyachts RAMBLE ON ROSE charter a yacht RAMBLE ON ROSE yacht charter RAMBLE ON ROSE mlkyacht broker RAMBLE ON ROSE yacht holidays RAMBLE ON ROSE super yacht20 - Smart Buyer's Guide to Residential Cruise Ships

[ad_1]

Residential ships are a way to share expenses instead of owning your own private yacht. The concept seems reasonable, but there is some price gouging going on in the business.

The ship that started the current spate of luxury residential homes aboard cruise ships was “The World,” operated and managed by ResidenSea. All the residences onboard “The World” are already sold-out, but occasionally an owner puts one up for sale. If you have to ask the price, you probably cannot afford it.

Residential Cruise Line, LTD. Is offering 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 624 sq.ft. apartments on “The Magellan” for a mere $2,160,000. A 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath, 4334 sq.ft. unit will set you back $15,460,000 to buy and an annual maintenance fee of $542,000.

Not to be outdone, The Four Seasons Ocean Residences has units running from $3.75 million to $39 million, and sizes range from 797 square feet for a 1-bedroom unit to 7,860 square feet for a 4-bedroom unit.

The “Orphalese” plans to launch in 2008. They are offering 200 permanent residences ranging from the 1,000-square-feet, 2-bedroom Pegasus Estate to the 3,700-square-feet, 5-bedroom Penthouse, which are available for full ownership. The 2-bedrooms start at $1.8 million with $30,000 in annual fees, while penthouses start at $10 million with $78,000 in annual fees.

Voyage Partners has a ship under construction but has not announced pricing yet. When they do, the prices will probably fall in the range of the others in this short list of new residential cruise ships.
Another ship of this caliber is in the planning stages, it is to be named “Everest” and will be 656′ in length if or when it is built. It is to intended have 17 apartments and an owners private penthouse suite on the top deck.

“The Orphalese” is the best bargain of the bunch, and I think it is the highest quality ship too. “The Orphalese” is being built at the Aker Shipyards in Finland by the same builders who have recently built the biggest and best mega cruise ships in the world, including the largest of all cruise ships “The Freedom of the Seas” operated by Royal Caribbean. Also the management of “The Orphalese” seems to be practical. There will also be 265 guest suites available on the ship for cruise passengers who do not own residences.

Using the best of the bunch “The Orphalese” as a benchmark, let’s see how it stacks up against real world prices.

New cruise ships can be built for around $200 million. The most expensive new mega cruise ships cost about $500 million to build.

All the current prices of residences onboard cruise ships are exorbitant. Rich people apparently enjoy squandering their money. It must be a status thing to waste more money than the Joneses. For those who prefer to not waste money trying to outspend the Joneses, there is a better way.

Occasionally a cruise line may have a new ship under construction and run into financial difficulties. They may be forced to abandon the construction project, and an unfinished ship may sit idle in a shipyard. There are such ships available now. One in particular is as follows:

725′ 725ft./221m UNFINISHED 12 DECK PASSENGER VESSEL

Year: 1990

Current Price: US$ 15,000,000

Located in Mediterranean

Hull Material: Steel

Engine/Fuel Type: Twin Diesel

725ft./221m Unfinished 12 deck Passenger Vessel

Steel hull & superstructure built in Poland in 1990, length extended by 50m/164ft. in 1995 in Greece for the original owner who went bankrupt.. New owner not interested in completing the 13,000 ton (lightship) cruise vessel and it is now at the stage where in can be completed by our competent ship builders in record time as per Buyer’s specific requirements. Ideal also as a floating condominium project or ro-pax. The price “as is, where is” with engines, generators and other equipment on-board (see list below) is US$15 Million, or can be completed turn-key in 20 months for US$130,000,000. Lying in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The above listed “turn-key” price of $130 million is based on finishing the ship at the Elefsina Shipyard in Greece. That would not be a wise thing to do with this ship. Greek shipyards get very few new construction projects these days, and for good reason. The trade unionists in Greece are doing a very good job of improving pay, benefits, and working conditions of shipyard workers in Greece. Unfortunately they also slow down the work, and drive up the costs.

The asking price for this ship is less than the price for one large apartment on “The Magellan.” The asking price and selling price are two different prices. This ship could probably be bought for about 11 million dollars. It would be foolish to finish this ship in a Greek union shipyard. It can be economically towed over to the nearby shipyards in Tuzla, Turkey. The ship can be finished there quicker, and for about half the price and with better craftsmanship. This ship could be bought and finished to a high standard equal to “The Orphalese” for a total cost of much less than 100 million dollars (maybe even as low as 60 million). It can be finished to order, with each residential unit customized to suit its owner(s). The finished product would be a brand new completely modern ship with luxury homes onboard which would be at least as good or better than any on the market.

That still seems like a big chunk of change. But this is a big ship and it would easily accommodate 200 luxury residential units and an additional 200 or so conventional cruise cabins like “The Orphalese.” The average cost of the residential units would be less than $500,000. That would mean that the smaller residential units would cost much less than the average price. Also, with an additional two hundred (plus) conventional cruise cabins, the cabin owners could recoup much of the operating costs, and thus virtually eliminate the “maintenance fees” for themselves. The expense to owners can be less than 10% of the going rates if the buyers did not need to pay some slick promoters and salesmen, but just bought the ship directly themselves sharing the actual costs by dividing the ship ownership among the buyers. Why would anyone want to pay ten times as much money to buy, and much higher maintenance fees for a similar shipboard residential unit? The only reason I can think of is to impress others with how much money they can afford to throw away.

Used cruise ships are an even bigger bargain. Look at the specs for the following unfinished conversion ship for sale:

UNFINISHED YACHT FOR SALE

OWNERS PRICE USD1 MILLION

COMPLETE SPECIFICATIONS, GA AND EQUIPMENT LIST AVAILABLE

GREEK FLAG

BUILT ROMANIA / 1988

LAST IN DRY DOCK 1997

DIMENSIONS 116.40 X 14.20 X 5.20 METERS DRAFT

GRT/NRT 3430/2000

23 KNOTS INTENDED

HELIPORT INTENDED

ACCOMMODATIONS INTENDED FOR 81 GUESTS

CREW FACILITIES INTENDED FOR 93 MEMBERS

Again the asking price is subject to negotiation. Used ships can be refurbished to look practically new, and can be brought up to international safety standards (SOLAS). There are shipyards around the world that can do good quality work at even lower cost than the shipyards in Tuzla, Turkey. If a ship is currently lying in Greece (as many are), then Tuzla is the best place to tow it for major shipyard work. The “SE” shipyards in the Black Sea port of Nikolaev, Ukraine offers the best value for the money in that part of the world. The bottom line is that smart shoppers can get good deals, even on lavish purchases such as a luxury residential home aboard a cruise ship. I maintain a list of those who have expressed an interest. The list is confidential and will not be shared for any marketing purposes. The purpose of maintaining the list is to facilitate joint ownership directly between buyers without any middlemen or promoters involved.

If you want to enjoy just about everything that Bahamas has to offer then there is no better way to do this than with a yacht rentals in the Bahamas. Not only will you be able to explore what the country has to offer, you will also be able to discover the native culture as well as the natural beauty of the nation. The islands are located in the Atlantic and are near to the coast of Florida. The average temperature during the summer months is around 30 degrees and during the winter months, it is generally around 25 degrees. I will suggest that you do not go during the summer and autumn months as the weather in this region can be severe during these times because of the hurricanes.

When you consider Bahamas bareboat charter, you will be offered not just the turquoise waters but also the beautiful beaches. What’s more, you will also be able to get a glimpse of what the culture of the people here is like. It is basically a combination of European and African influences and its culture can be reflected in the various styles and music of the islands. When you reach Bahamas, you will realize that marching bands is a vital part of the lives of the people here. They play at funerals, weddings and other events.

You can take a chartered Bahamas yacht to the Out Islands, or the outer islands of the nation. Of course, the main islands are extremely popular among the tourists so be sure to visit them when you decide to travel to this region. Abaco is the most popular place in the Bahamas so make sure you do not miss it during your trip. It is considered to be a major port in this nation and it has a complete service marina. When you opt for Bahamas charter, make sure to visit the beach at Treasure Cay because it is extremely popular. If you are planning to go to Fowl Cay then you will find a Marine Park and a great snorkeling location here. Many honeymooners visit Fowl Cay and if you are planning to get married soon, then you can consider visiting the Bahamas by chartering a boat.

Green Turtle Cay is another island in the Bahamas that you can visit if you do decide to opt for yacht rentals in Bahamas. It is situated in the Abaco Out Islands and about half a mile wide and three miles in length. This island is so named because there are plenty of green turtles in this region. There are many boat marinas in the Green Turtle Cay and this location is extremely popular for its lovely beaches. So if you love swimming or you simply wish to spend some time with your loved ones in the sun, you will find sailing to this location to be a great experience.

You can use US dollars here and major credit cards are also accepted by most of the shops, restaurants and hotels.

Mlkyachts ANDREAS L charter a yacht ANDREAS L yacht charter ANDREAS L mlkyacht broker ANDREAS L yacht holidays ANDREAS L super yacht24 - Eleuthera Island in Bahamas - What's So Special About It?

[ad_1]

My wife and I have lived in Eleuthera for over 9 years and we’re still loving it. It didn’t take us long to realize that the moderate subtropical climate of the Bahamas would be just right for us. Yes, we stay here every Winter and sometimes even in the Summer because we own a home and a cottage in Central Eleuthera.

But before I’ll tell you how very special this island is… Well, do you know it’s only an hour by air from Florida, meaning Miami or Fort Lauderdale? No, you didn’t?…

OK, that’s a good reason to tell you the most important fact about Eleuthera right now — this long and narrow island is the greatest place for total relaxation… A heaven of peace and tranquility. Particularly for couples, families, snorkelers and anglers. Why?…

The Most Gorgeous Pink Sand Beaches

The number of spectacular and deserted beaches is truly impressive. So you are getting both… the beauty of the beaches and the beauty of the underwater world if you’re a snorkeler.

And rental places abound because many foreigners – mainly from the US – are renting out their homes or guest cottages. Simply put the two search words eleuthera and rental into Google and you’ll find a wide choice of rental homes..

Hotels? Hard to believe but on the entire island there are only three hotels directly on the water. The one in the North near Gregory Town is the newly renovated Cove Eleuthera.

In the area of Central Eleuthera there are just two hotels directly on the water, namely… the charming Italian Resort Cocodimama with 12 rooms. It’s on the left side of Eleuthera near GHB airport. And the other hotel with 8 rooms – Unique Village – is on the right side in North Palmetto Point. That’s the Atlantic side with all the fine pink sand beaches.

Eleuthera’s Unusual Shape and its Friendly Folks

Eleuthera is 100 miles long and a quarter to 4 miles wide. Its population is only about 9’000. And Eleutherans – the English-speaking natives – are very friendly. Let me give you an example…

When we first arrived at Governor’s Harbour airport, we were driven to the settlement Governor’s Harbour, 9 miles south of the airport GHB. And what did we see?… An almost straight road across gently rolling hills looking like a roller coaster and… bush, bush, nothing but bush on either side.

As we entered the small town of Governor’s Harbour, all the locals waved at us. *You must be a very well known person*, I said. *Oh, no, this is just the way people are here* she told me. And so it is still today when we’re driving to town.

What can you expect?

Crystal clear turquoise waters, awe-inspiring pink sand beaches and pure air. Little traffic which by the way is left-hand traffic just like in England. The Bahamas were a British colony after all. That’s why the children still greet you with a friendly *Good afternoon, sir*.

What else can you expect? There’s a few grocery stores with quite a good selection but nothing to compare with the US. Well, maybe with this one exception… in Rock Sound – South-Eleuthera – there’s the largest grocery store on the island with a good choice of fruits and vegetables.

Most repeat visitors to Eleuthera bring frozen meat. Don’t pack any vegetables, though or fruit, because customs will confiscate them. Visitors also bring their prescription medicine because there are no island pharmacies.

Restaurants?… You will find all kinds of restaurants but of course not as many as in really touristy places. Bahamian cuisine, Italian or Chinese… yes, they’re all there.

Eleuthera Is Developing At A Faster Pace Now

Since The New York Times published articles about Eleuthera in the Winter of 2005/2006, a couple of five star resorts started going up. They’re still under construction – Summer 2007 – but will start operating in 2008. The most important one is Cotton Bay in South Eleuthera.

This doesn’t bother us Winter residents though, because they’re small resorts. Nothing to do with mass tourism. Believe me that’s the essence of Eleuthera, peace and tranquility and a private home to really enjoy your privacy.

The Danube River is a very important river in Europe and is the longest river in the European Union. The Danube stretches from German through 4 country capitals, several different countries and eventually ends in the Black Sea. It is on the border of Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and the Ukraine.

The Danube River can be divided into three different sections. The upper section of the river runs from its start to the Devin gate. The next section, the middle section, runs from Devin gate to the Iron Gate and the last section, the lower section, runs from the Iron Gate to Sulina.

The river is deep enough for large ocean liners to travel into Romania. Once you have reached Braila you need to change to smaller ships which can take you into Bavaria. Finally you will need to switch to an even smaller boat at kelheim go by river into Germany.

There are several islands in the Danube River. Some of these islands are Donauinsel, Island of Sarengrad, Great War island, Vardin Island, Ostro, Margaret Island, Island of Vukivar, Great Braila island, Csepel Island, Belene island, Balta Ialomitei and Ada Kaleh.

In the 1990s the Danube River was connected to the Trans European waterway due to the construction of the Rhine-Main-Danube canal. This canal provides a link form the black sea to the North Sea. Because the Danube is used for commercial purposes it is also part of the European transport corridor. The present luxury travelers are looking for new and unique experiences. They want to learn and understand the culture and history of the places they visit. They must experience it like a local, or more aptly, a very wealthy local.

The new aspect of luxury vacation, it’s no longer about living in the most expensive hotels or eating off gold (or actually eating it); it’s now about experiencing that you’ll never forget that no one else has Instagrammed.

A choice that could provide you a real new experience in terms of the modern meaning of luxury travelling is a private sailing cruise on a luxury yacht. A cruise like this in the Aegean Sea and especially in the Cyclades island group can provide an authentic experience of the town, city or village you’re visiting.

Although there will always be “must see” tourist spots to go to, you could also live authentic and local experiences. For instance, on the islands you are going to visit you could participate in events that locals would frequent, like local festivals with music, dance, food and drink.

For those who love to shop, you’ll have the opportunity to try and buy local products that you can’t find anywhere else. Try amazing wines, cheeses, exceptional Hellenic products like herbs coming from the Greek earth and grown with the help of sun and salty wind.

Among others you’ll have also the option of arranging with your skipper a unique experience by mixing and matching different excursions, day trips, cruises and activities to suit your personal preferences and interests. You could visit such as, archaeological sites or secret buys or even enjoy a massage or personal counseling session like Ayurvedic & Thai massages, Healing, Reiki, Aromatherapy. If you wish you could also enjoy water sports or a relaxing yoga workshop.

All the above could be a memorable time of your life consisted of services planned only for you, private visits, isolated beaches, private tours, or a relaxing afternoon cycling through the Greek countryside to a vineyard where a wholesome Mediterranean meal awaits? The options are endless.

Of course on a trip like this the crew of the sailboat can ensure you a level of safety and security, a calm cruise, a safe anchor the best services in and out of the boat. Everything on a trip along these lines is designed to satisfy your peace in mind and give you the pleasure you swear by a new age luxury travel.

Setting sail from Palma de Mallorca – How to get there?

Amongst other reasons, a Mallorca yacht charter is so incredibly popular because of the easy accessibility of its international airport from all major European destinations. There are hundreds of daily flights coming in during the summer, making it a real hub for sailors and seasoned yachties from all over the world. In addition, the airport is a mere 9 km away from the capital `Palma`, as it is simply known to the inhabitants.

Its favourable location in the western Mediterranean Sea sets this gorgeous island and the surrounding Balearics in the immediate vicinity of the Spanish mainland and the port cities of Barcelona, Valencia and Denia. Often sailors will use Palma as a resting point when crossing the Mediterranean. The area is a great cruising ground for yacht rental because of the diversity of the different islands that make up the Balearics. Ibiza, Formentera and Menorca are reachable within only one sailing day. Yet they each offer something completely different in terms of culture, landscape and atmosphere.

Which marinas in and around Palma de Mallorca are there for a motor or sailing yacht charter?

There are some very established and some pristine new marinas to choose from for your yacht charter in Mallorca. The yacht harbours in Palma itself are offering quite a lot of both, luxury and bareboat charter, whereas the exclusive marinas of Puerto Portals, Port Adriano and Puerto Andratx are perfectly suited for luxury boat charter in Mallorca. In Palma there is the Club de Mar, La Lonja Marina Charter, the Real Club Nautico and the Marina Naviera Balear. A lot of day charter, especially for motor yachts, is available here. Very nice as well is the newly redone `Muelle Viejo` directly adjacent to the magnificent Cathedral. There are some fantastic new restaurants right opposite which even bring you some take away on board. There you can then sit on your own deck for dinner, enjoy the enchanting view of the lit up cathedral and feel the pulse of the vibrant centre of the city. Puerto Portals is only a 10 minutes´ drive away and has long been renowned as a prime port for luxury yacht charter Mallorca. If you sit in the restaurant `Flannagans`, for example, you may even be table neighbours with the likes of the King of Spain or Rafael Nadal. And Port Adriano (about 20 min drive from the city centre) with its cutting edge design by Philippe Starck is a true superyacht harbour with the flair of sober elegance, yet undeniable beauty.

What has Palma de Mallorca got to offer for après sailing?

Now you may have come here for sailing holidays, but there is way more to do if you only know where and when… Not a day goes by in Palma that there isn’t some sort of party or event. From January to December, there’s always something going on here. If you have not attended it yet, seeing the Three Kings arrive in the port on the Spanish Christmas day, January 6, is a sight to behold. And in the end of January there is a whole week of festivities called San Sebastian. Numerous life bands play in the streets, you can `run with the devils` or join in for the huge barbecue at the very end of the week. In summer you can pick your choice of regattas: Be it the Superyacht Cup in June, the Princessa del Rey in July or the Copa del Rey in August.

Downtown Palma is wonderful to behold, as is the old quarter. You’ll find the overall architecture is a blend of the intricate eastern style and the imposing western style. The famous Palma Cathedral, commonly referred to as ´La Seu´ is second to none in the world. Also a must is the impressive Castell de Bellver that towers over Palma and boasts some unbelievable views over the whole bay.

Apart from seeing the abundant sights, sampling the local specialities like the famous Sobrasada sausages or the popular `lomo´ (pork loin) along with some Mallorquin wine is a pure joy.

Shopping facilities for souvenirs or in preparation for your yacht charter in Palma de Mallorca are plentiful. Just head to the big department store El Corte Ingles (they have a luxury delicatessen department too) or to the shopping mall Porto Pi that is situated just around the corner from Club de Mar. You can purchase fresh produce in abundance in the centrally located Santa Catalina market during the mornings. And in the Old Town and the city centre there is an endless array of gorgeous boutiques and shops for you to choose from.

The nightlife is splendid; you just need to head down to the water towards the promenade known as Paseo Maritimo. There you’ll find the best clubs, bars and terraces, all overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and all packed full with happy yacht charter visitors.

What are the best day charter trips from Palma de Mallorca?

Off course Palma is the heart of Mallorca, yet it isn´t everything there is… By car you can do many excursions, head into the spectacular Tramuntana mountain range and visit some of the enormously charming little villages there. Deia, Valdemossa or Puerto de Soller are just a few names you should remember. There is a very cute, over 100-year-old train that goes from Palma to Soller and from there you can take the equally quaint tram to the port. A recommendable trip on the water would be going on a guided tour to the island of Cabrera, which is also a nature reserve. On the way they will tell you a lot about the interesting history as well as the fauna and flora of this place. Go swim in caves with crystal clear water and soak up the Mediterranean sun. A day yacht charter, most likely on a motor yacht from Palma would be another option to go there. One of those motor yacht charter boats can fit up to 6 to 8 people and you get a skipper to take you to the island, where you can snorkel or dive and admire the unspoilt underwater world.
